                                               Senator Malala chairing an ODM caucus in Nyatike In a statement by the Wanga Council of Elders, the elders confirmed what has all along been public knowledge, that  Hon Cleophas Malala is indeed a Luo hence a stranger in Luhyaland. The elders confirmed that the senator’s father came from Nyanza and settled in Wangaland. He was then allowed to marry from there. The elders reaffirmed that whereas Luhyas are a peace-loving community that embraces visitors, they won’t allow such visitors to purport to speak on behalf of the community. The 2022 Kakamega Gubernatorial contest is sure to be full of political intrigue and high level politics.                                       Hon Ayub Savula and Deputy Governor, Prof Philip Kutima In what is shaping up to be a battle of the titans, the race has so far attracted former Senator Dr Bonny Khalwale, current Senator Malala as well as the Women Representative Hon Elsie Muhanda. Shinyalu MP Hon Justus Kizito, and Stanley Khainga are among top politicians who have equally expressed interest for the position.
